Based on what I have seen of the show and what I have read, it teaches the “other Jesus, other gospel” that Paul warned about in 2 Corinthians 11:1-4.
Genesis 3:1 says that the serpent was the most subtle beast in the field and what better way to lead the people of God astray than to beguile them with an entertaining program full of half-truths about the scripture that they will be judged by when they stand before God?
There’s a reason we were warned of things like this.
The truth is, it doesn’t matter that you say you “know the truth.” You know that horror films are fake, yet your body and brain respond as if they are real.
It isn’t as innocent as it might seem.
When you expose yourself to deceptions or listen to false teachers, you expose your spirit to those things as well – and your brain and body accept it as truth even though your psychology says otherwise.
Exposing your spirit to false teachers and perverted depictions of Jesus/the gospel/biblical truths is opening the door for the spirit of unbelief.
If you’re exposed to it enough, your own theology begins to get shaky. Things slip in making you look left when you should be looking right. No one is immune. It is a vulnerability inherent in all human beings. Why do you think that scripture says over and over to stay on the straight and narrow?
1 John 2:6 says that if we abide in Jesus then we walk as He walked. And He never entertained half-truths and false teachings – He railed against them, proved them wrong, and shut them down.
Then there’s the issue of babes in Christ. What about the new believers you are teaching and ministering to? If you are entertaining the spirit of deception behind this “other Jesus,” not to mention the spirit of unbelief that comes with false teachers, you are feeding that directly to your new converts. They WILL be affected, likely more than you are because they are still building their foundation of scriptural knowledge and understanding.
Entertaining false teaching and unbelief, even in the name of entertainment is still entertaining things that are not of God. At the very least they are of the world and God has called us out of that.
And entertaining that mess keeps YOU in the world. Even one foot in the world is too much.
It prepares you to accept the lies of the antichrist, things that will take you farther and farther away from God.
The effects can be disastrous. It hinders your holiness – the holiness that God is calling you to.
Scripture says to be on guard, to protect yourself against false teachers, not fall in step with them and entertain them.
If you want to know Jesus – really know Jesus – find a spirit-filled man or woman of God who teaches biblical TRUTH and let them teach you.
Don’t waste your time and energy on fast food theology. It will do the same thing that fast food does to your physical body, make you sick, sluggish, and malnourished.
Don’t do that to your spirit, it’s way too important.
This is the state of your soul I’m talking about – and where it will spend eternity. Continually entertaining false teaching, doctrines of devils will eventually impact your salvation. It is inevitable.
