The King James version of the Bible has become the gold standard for many believers, and for the most part, it is pretty sound. However, there are still some instances where you can see man’s hand in it where interpolations have been inserted and words have been mistranslated.

But that’s another study for another day.

The question that we hear often this time of year is, “Does the bible really mention Easter?”

Then there are those who know the answer and want to know why Easter is mentioned in the KJV.

The reason is simple. It’s a translation error.

At least we pray it’s an error and not a deliberate attempt to deceive people.

Easter is NOT in the Bible

The word “easter” appears in the KJV one time, in Acts 12:4, but if you study it out, it’s pretty easy to see that it is a translation error.

It looks straightforward enough, right? Not so fast. Remember, the KJV is a translation that was translated from Greek texts known as the Textus Receptus (Received Text).

So, the logical next step is to look at the Greek text for that verse.

That is where easter was inserted but of course in this direct translation it says Passover. Notice the word that is used is Pascha. Let’s look at some other verses that mention Passover and see what Greek word is used.

Matthew 26:17-18 the word Passover is used twice. You can clearly see that both times the Greek word it was translated from is Pascha.

Mark 14:12 also shows Passover translated from the Greek word Pascha.

There are many more throughout the New Testament. Not once in any other mention is Pascha translated to easter. It is always translated to Passover.

What is the Greek word for Passover?

The Greek word for Passover is Pascha.

Let’s delve into that meaning a little to see if easter is included anywhere in the definition. It does show the KJV translation for the single verse Acts 12:4 as easter, but the word easter is not found anywhere in the definition of Pascha.

As you can see there is absolutely NO mention of easter in the definition. That’s because the word Pascha in Acts 12:4 is a mistranslation, a deception to dupe believers into thinking that easter and Passover are the same.

Aren’t Passover and Easter the Same?

Passover and easter are most definitely NOT the same.

When “Christianity” began to emerge in Rome, the pagan Romans converted to Catholicism which was already dabbling in paganism. However, they did not want to give up their pagan traditions and practices. The heads of the Catholic church decided that it would be a great idea to combine the pagan traditions of the Romans with the biblical obedience of the church.

Easter is an invention of the Catholic church. It combined pagan traditions with a sprinkling of surface level “Christianity” and called it a “Christian holiday.” It did not, does not, and never will honor Yehovah in any way.

The pagan traditions were very popular with the locals so they just meshed the two together. This resulted in the pagan traditions gradually overtaking the biblical obedience of believers, Eventually, there was nothing left but the pagan traditions. The church was no longer keeping the biblical Sabbath or the biblically prescribed Feast Days of the Lord.

Everything holy and sacred had been scrubbed from the Catholic church and it was largely comprised of what amounted to “pagan Christians.”

That is still true today, but that unbiblical pagan Christianity has bled into nearly every denomination to some degree or another. Any church that celebrates easter, Christmas, and the other pagan traditions are practicing pagan Christianity.

And pagan Christianity is NOT biblical. Yehovah God does NOT approve!

Easter is definitely NOT Passover. Resurrection Sunday (the “Christian” name for the pagan celebration) is NOT Passover.

Easter and Resurrection Sunday are NOT found in scripture. We are NOT given a command to keep that day under any name. In fact, doing so is an abomination unto Yehovah because scripture plainly says that we are NOT to christianize pagan traditions.

And that is exactly what easter and resurrection Sunday are – attempts to christianize pagan traditions.

29 When the Lord thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;
30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
31 Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God: for every abomination to the Lord, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.

Deuteronomy 12:29-31

But Aren’t We Supposed to Remember the Work at the Cross?

Yes, we are supposed to remember that Yeshua died for us and rose from the dead – but NOT in the way that WE choose.

Yehovah gave us explicit instructions on how HE wants us to worship Him.

But when you choose to celebrate easter or even resurrection Sunday, you are honoring, worshipping the spirit that is behind that day – and it is NOT Yehovah.

When you choose to worship on a day that Yehovah said not to, especially when you do in instead of keeping Passover or His Feast Days, you are worshipping the spirit of the root of that day, the demonic, pagan spirit.

And you curse yourself.

Yehovah is nowhere in that.

Yehovah’s Feast Days started way back before Leviticus even though they are explained in Leviticus 23.

You see, the crucifixion, resurrection, even the birth of Yeshua is celebrated in the Feast Days of the Lord. We even have a day that celebrates His return!

What is so exciting about it though, is that these feasts also remember events in the past that were a type and shadow of what was to come.

If you would like to study this out, I highly recommend the book “The Real Second Coming” by CW Mayberry. He walks you through it very simply so you can see the much, much bigger picture than what the modern church is showing you now.

We are commanded to keep the Feast Days and over and over Yehovah says to keep them forever.

And He does not change (Malachi 3:6).

But I Don’t See Easter Like That! I Choose to Do It for Him!

You can’t just say, “I don’t think of the holidays as pagan. I just do them my own way, Jesus knows my heart.”

You Don’t Get to Worship Yehovah Your Own Way SCRIPTURE FORBIDS IT.

THE PRIESTS did it their way And Yehovah rebuked them (Malachi 1:6-13)

CAIN did it his way And was rejected by Yehovah (Genesis 4)

AARON did it his way And nearly brought the wrath of Yehovah upon the recently delivered Israelites (Exodus 32)

THE SONS OF AARON did it their way And Yehovah killed them for offering strange fire before the Lord (Leviticus 10:1-2)

THE MONEYCHANGERS did it their way And Jesus turned over their tables and whipped them (Matthew 21:12-13)

If Yehovah didn’t accept their way, what makes you think He is going to accept yours?

Consciously choosing to celebrate the pagan tradition of Easter while consciously choosing to reject the Feast Days that Yehovah gave us is rebellion. It is sin.

He wants our obedience, not vain flattery which is what forcing Yehovah into the easter box is. When you do that you are saying that Yehovah’s word isn’t good enough and that you know better than He does when it comes to worshipping Him.

Congratulations, you have just made yourself into your own god.

Obedience includes obeying His word and worshipping Him in the way He says we should.

You don’t get to do it YOUR way because YEHOVAH said to do it HIS way.
